I stumbled across this video on youtube when I was trying to figure out how many shopping bags are produced each year, and consequently how much plastic waste that takes a long time to break down is produced. The video is made by www.alternativeconsumer.com. Not only does this video look at the environmental effects of plastic bags, but it also looks at a brighter picture of reusable shopping bags that we as consumers need to start taking into consideration.

Brighter Planet is thrilled to announce our latest climate change awareness campaign. This time we’ve joined forces with the great folks at 1Sky to launch the Climate Matters video contest.
We’re asking people to create a 30 or 60 second video to help to inspire our next president to take action on climate change. We have an amazing panel of judges and over $4500 in prizes. As an added bonus, the top ten videos will be shown to Congress—so you can be sure your message will be heard.

The Guelph International Resource Center (GIRC) headed an interesting project taking aim at water conservation and efficiency for a couple of years. Participants led various community events to promote methods of water conservation in the home. Along with building and selling rain barrels in the city of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the groups also participated in the development of public service ads related to water topics. I was lucky enough to be a part of the project, and here is one of the videos we created.
