The Faces Of Our Children
Theres a very interesting campaign being spear headed by Environmental Defence (http://www.environmentaldefence.ca/), who have partnered up with “Moms Against Climate Change” to deliver a strong message to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper before heading to Copenhagen.  They’ll be projecting the faces of no less than 1600 children onto the sides of buildings in Ottawa, the nations capital, and Vancouver on the west coast.
From Rick Smith, Executive Director:
“On Thursday, December 10th, at 4:30pm local time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be sent a striking message. The faces …

I’m sure most know of the Sea Shepherd Society.  If not, a brief introduction – Founded in 1977, the Sea Shepherd society is an international non-profit wildlife conservation group which puts its focus on marine life.  The group uses various direct action tactics to combat habitat destruction and wildlife slaughter on our oceans.
Towards the end of October, the Sea Shepherd Society unveiled their newest vessel, the Ady Gil.  This is one mean machine!  With a top speed of  90 km/hr, this ocean vessel set a new record in ocean travel.  …

United Kingdom coal fired plants came under fire today when a group of protesters scaled a 200 meter tall chimney.  The Camp for Climate Action group managed to gain access to the power plant early Monday morning.  About 20 protesters targeted a couple of different areas in the plant.  One group made attempts at stopping a conveyor belt from feeding more coal into the power producing inferno while another group began climbing the giant chimney which is over 200 meters tall.

Polar Ice Caps and Depleted Water Sources

As with most of the environmental problems that we face, this is something that is only going to get worse if we continue living the way we do.  Sadly, its something that we can probably still turn around if action is taken before we hit the ‘tipping point’.  Locked in the permafrost of the north is a vast, frozen sea  of methane that has been stored for millenia.  If we see that begin to melt……well, there’ll be no turning back.  The ice that encompasses much of the north …

Google Moving in the Green Direction with Solar Power

It was just the other day that I was wondering why the search engine giant Google hadn’t begun to explore green initiatives.  Oddly enough, it was just announced yesterday that Google is planning a project to develop a new solar mirror technology which should greatly reduce the costs associated with renewable energy.
Googles engineers have been focusing on a solar technology that would heat water, which in turn would produce steam that would turn turbines to produce electricity.
Here’s a video of googles green energy czar Bill Weihl discussing a bit about …
