The Junk Man percussion-based music on found and recycled materials

I was recently contact by Donald Knaack, a man who is very serious about two things…..music and unnecessary waste.  Donald takes old, found and recycled materials and turns them into an auditory symphony of percussion!  Being a drummer myself, I wanted to waste no time at all in getting the word out about this insanely original music!
Long before the environment was on the top of people’s “to do” list, The Junkman™ was playing the original eco beat, making green music and spreading his environmental messages.
For over 25 years, …

Yellow Fish Road – Sewers go straight to streams

Why do we do the things we do??  Today, as I’m sitting on my porch, I’m watching someone across the road washing off some screens outside on her driveway.  So I think to myself, alright, she’s giving something a rinse. I don’t know what, but something is getting cleaned off anyways.  The hose doesn’t get turned off while she runs into the garage for a couple of minutes to get another screen.  She comes back out, inspects the first screen….hose is still running……and finally begins to rinse the second one.  …

Car Pooling Benefits the Environment and Saves you money!

Riding around town on my bike, and also driving on the highways between cities, I’m constantly baffled at the number of vehicles I see with just one occupant in them.  Considering the cost of fuel, and the economic situation right now, you’d think people would be very interested in finding any way possible to cut costs.  Carpooling is one way to drastically cut your daily expenses, particularly if you are commuting 50 KM or more each day to get to and from work.  There is usually the ability to comfortably …

Organic and Natural Slug Control for your Garden

As annoying as they can be, slugs are actually a benefit in your garden as long as there is a balance between them and their predators.  They provide food for various beneficial insects such as beetles.  Birds, a welcome  visitor to any garden love to devour slugs.  Toads, frogs and even centipedes gobble up countless slugs in every garden, so its essential that whatever method you use to repel slugs from your plants doesn’t harm these other creatures that not only eat the slugs, but naturally take care of other …

Bottled Water Facts – Truth Be Told Its All In You Tap!

There’s been a trend over the last decade or so that is seeing people purchase more bottled water each and every year.  Its interesting really, because most people fail to actually read the lables in order to understand just where that water is coming from.   Some bottling companies, such as Nestle, are depleting groundwater sources in order to fill those bottles.  Other companies, such as Pepsi, under the guise of Aqua Fina are simply opening up the tap and filling plastic bottles with the same water that flows freely from …

Natural Horse and Canine Care with Herbs

Imagine if you could provide the same natural health care for you pets as you can for yourself and your loved ones.  No nasty antibiotics or other oddly named chemical concoctions that you can’t really even pronounce!  There are alternatives to keeping your best friend….as in your dog, as well as your horses in tip top shape without any of the weird stuff.
There are some pretty nifty natural pet care products available these days.  One such company that I have recently come across is “Herbs for Horses.”  Herbs for Horses …

One Way Smokers Can Help the Planet Butt Out Butts In The Garbage

Now we all know that smoking is a terrible habit. It is bad for your health and the environment. Ideally to help the plant and save your life quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for yourself. This is easier said than done!
One of the biggest peeves of non-smokers aside from the smell of someone’s cigarette smoke is the butts that they see all over the ground. Most smokers don’t think twice about tossing their butt out of the car window or on the sidewalk. I can see …
