Stephen Harper: Remember who you’re representing in Copenhagen

The Faces Of Our Children

Theres a very interesting campaign being spear headed by Environmental Defence (http://www.environmentaldefence.ca/), who have partnered up with “Moms Against Climate Change” to deliver a strong message to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper before heading to Copenhagen.  They’ll be projecting the faces of no less than 1600 children onto the sides of buildings in Ottawa, the nations capital, and Vancouver on the west coast.

From Rick Smith, Executive Director:

On Thursday, December 10th, at 4:30pm local time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be sent a striking message. The faces of more than 1,600 children will be projected onto the sides of buildings in Ottawa and Vancouver with this simple reminder, “Stephen Harper: Remember who you’re representing in Copenhagen”.

The projections, a campaign from Moms Against Climate Change, are being timed with the House of Commons session coming to a close for 2009 as the UN Summit on Climate Change gets underway in Copenhagen.

This reminder is one that is obviously needed: as you may have heard, Canada had the distinction of being awarded Fossil of the Day on the first day of negotiations in Copenhagen yesterday.
This is the third year in a row we have “won”. Our federal government’s unwillingness to be a leader at these critical international meetings has us sweeping the special awards handed out by a coalition of 400 public-interest groups.

As a Canadian, I find this embarrassing, and frustrating. As a parent, I find it deeply disturbing.

It’s not too late to act!  Join the wall. Post a Photo. Tell a friend.

Let’s show Prime Minister Stephen Harper that we care about the future of this country, and the future of our children. Thank you very much for everything you do on behalf of our environment.”

Good luck with the campaign to all involved!
