How many of you folks enjoy a tasty chicken now and then?  If you do, listen up right now!!

There is a very strange and somewhat alarming practice occurring with those chickens you are buying at the local grocery store or market.  Max Bernstein sent me some information recently about a campaign that he is involved with through Foster Farms.  Foster Farms is an all natural poultry farm.  Started in 1939 by Max and Verda Foster, it remains a family farm with emphasis put on natural poultry farming.

So, I guess you are wondering just what that strange practice might be then, aren’t you.  Well, its called chicken plumping.   What is Chicken Plumping you ask?  Well, to put it simply, its the injection of saltwater, chicken stock, seaweed extract or some combination thereof into chicken to increase its weight and price, meaning that when you buy a package of chicken you can be spending 15% more on SALT WATER.  Its occurring all over the place too.

Aside from the financial aspects associated with this practice, these plumped chickens have up to 700% more sodium than an un-plumped chicken.  The result is that hundreds of thousands of families are unknowingly feeding themselves an extremely unhealthy and probably very dangerous amount of salt.

Here’s a little video about whats going on:

Eeek! This is really awful. When you consider what’s happening in the meat industry, it’s really astounding anyone wants to buy meat that’s not organic / free range. Thanks for educating people!
