Guelphs Hillside Festival – The Greenest Festival Around

Its that time of year again!  The middle of summer, and that means the Hillside Festival is finally upon us.  For a long time now, I’ve attended this festival just outside of Guelph, Ontario.  It started out in 1984 in the city of Guelph at a small venue called riverside park.  Since the first festival, the event has grown each year.  The first couple of events were one day festivals, but with the growing number of attendees, in 1987 the festival officially moved to the island on Guelph Lake and …

The Junk Man percussion-based music on found and recycled materials

I was recently contact by Donald Knaack, a man who is very serious about two things…..music and unnecessary waste.  Donald takes old, found and recycled materials and turns them into an auditory symphony of percussion!  Being a drummer myself, I wanted to waste no time at all in getting the word out about this insanely original music!

Yellow Fish Road – Sewers go straight to streams

Why do we do the things we do??  Today, as I’m sitting on my porch, I’m watching someone across the road washing off some screens outside on her driveway.  So I think to myself, alright, she’s giving something a rinse. I don’t know what, but something is getting cleaned off anyways.  The hose doesn’t get turned off while she runs into the garage for a couple of minutes to get another screen.  She comes back out, inspects the first screen….hose is still running……and finally begins to rinse the second one.  …
