Eco Friendly fashion and organic clothing

17 December 2008 No Comment

I was surfing around the web today, and I couldn’t believe the amount of eco friendly, organic and fair trade clothing I was able to find with one simple search! Its seems the green trend is everywhere, and I thought it appropriate to share some of what I found with you.

In 2005, Passenger Pigeon became what they are today. What happened at that time was that the company, originally called “Called Your Bluff” went through a conversion to environmentally friendly textiles. Organic cotton and hemp, harvested and manufactured without using pesticides and or sweatshop labour, now consist of the majority of the fabrics used in their garments. This decision reflects the company’s deep appreciation for the environment, as well as their strong conviction to promote healthy living conditions. Their garments are designed, sewn, and screenprinted in Toronto, Canada.

Green is Black is a Canadian company whose focus is on retailing womens and mens clothing. Eco clothing such as pants, shirts, skirts, shoes, and various accessories created by cutting edge designers who use hemp, organic cotton, bamboo, and soy, as well as reclaimed, recycled and vintage materials. They only deal with manufacturers who employ fairly paid labour practices.

Eco Ganik is a company that chooses not only to keep the environment and green consumer in mind, but they also ensure that all of their products are top of the line. The design direct has this to say:

“Organic, natural and sustainable fashion should be a staple, not a luxury. We want to give the eco-minded customer a lot of options for her wardrobe for any occasion. If we can offer a beautiful garment, at a comparable price, why not choose eco-friendly?”

I like that! Check out Eco Ganik today!

Those were the more interesting eco friendly & organic clothing companies that I came across. Let me know if you find some great sustainable clothing companies. Sustainable means everything from organic and eco friendly clothing straight through to fair trade clothing!
