Shedding Some Light on LED Christmas Lights

Most of the Christmas lights on the market now are LED. This is a great thing because they use as much as 90% less energy than conventional incandescent light strings. This alone should be enough reason for people to want to switch.

LED Christmas Lights

LED light strings come in the traditional Christmas colors, and range in price quite a bit. Some people do not like the colors of the LED lights, but personally I think the colors are richer, and more vibrant. Being a newer technology, as with most new things, when selecting which product you want to get you must remember that “you get what you pay for”. So I recommend that you consider quality, and not get cheap made set of LED Christmas lights.

Quality LED Lights

There have been many reports of LED light strings that have faded, dulled and died after only one or two years. These are the cheaply manufactured type generally, and some of the first models that were available. Every year the LED lights seem to improve as they work out the bugs.
This year I’ve seen many solar powered LED light strings for sale, but the reviews I have read seem to recommend against them. Some reviews said they were quite a bit duller than the plug-in LED lights, and they only provide about 2 hours of light. I’m certain that in time they will develop better and better models of solar powered LED Christmas lights.

Popular LED Christmas Lights

Here are some of the popular brands of LED Christmas lights in my area.

Noma has a wide selection of different indoor and outdoor LED light strings. They come in many different styles and colors. Choose from rope lights, icicle lights, color changing lights, and a variety of colors and sizes. These are available at Canadian Tire, and other stores, as well as online.

Westinghouse has a great selection of indoor and outdoor LED lights, which come in all different colors and styles. These lights are more expensive than others, but they do come with a warranty on some of the products, and claim that they will not dull. These are available at Zellers.

Holiday Joy Has a wide variety of LED light strings and other Christmas decorations. These lights are less expensive, but seem to have descent reviews, particularly the rope LED lights. These are available at Zellers.

Most of you will have already done your holiday decorating, but now is the opportunity to see which you like the best by asking your friend and neighbors what kind of lights they use and you can compare them. In just a few weeks if not sooner all of these products will be coming on sale to clear them off the store shelves. This will give you time to find out which ones you like best.
