Wear Fair Releases Fair Trade Organic Cotton Clothing Line

A new project of SUMAC Community worker co-operative has just been released. SUMAC is a co-operative located in Guelph, Ontario that is dedicated to providing products from Fair Trade and Organic organisations throughout the world.

This new project involves cotton producers in India that have made a shift from conventional practices to Fair Trade Certified practices.

SUMACs initiative is called Wear Fair. Wear Fair sources organic cotton from fair trade certified farmers and then has garments created by a fair trade certified textile factory. We are committed to ensuring as much as possible of the garment production in done within fair trade certified organizations- from seed to button. This emphasis on ensuring fair trade certified conditions throughout the value chain of cotton garments makes Wear Fair a unique worker co-operative initiative.

I know from first hand that organic cotton clothing is a great way to naturally alleviate some skin conditions.

That is an easy call since conventional methods of cotton production use such harsh chemicals.

I have heard some varying numbers on the amount, but everyone agrees the chemicals just are bad for the earth and us.

“Traditional cotton production also attributes to 25% of worldwide insecticide use and 10% of worldwide pesticide use.”
