Cat owners everywhere…LISTEN UP! You may not know this, or it may simply be something you overlooked, but……Some kitty litters can be down right horrible for the environment. It is estimated that around 1/3 to 1/2 of the worlds population have cats as pets. Think about how many little kitties are running around out there, and think also about how much kitty litter is tossed in the garbage every day! Dumped in landfills, cat litter takes up quite a bit of space! Aside from filling landfills, the traditional clay varieties of cat litter come from clay that is obtained through strip mining. Strip mining employs the use of giant machines which rip apart giant areas of the planet…leaving unsightly and unrepairable gouges in the earth. There are alternatives to using conventional cat litters.
Alternative kitty litters are usually made from plant matter and could be any one of, or a combination of wheat, alfalfa, corn cob, peanut hulls, recycled newspaper, or a number of other organic materials.
Try some of these great products out for yourself, and by all means, let us know what you liked, or disliked about them!!

We have indoor kitties and we use swheat scoop. It works really well and we have no complaints. I would recommend it.

We’ve tried the corn litter and weren’t pleased at all. The odor from one kitty going in and urinating one time was unbearable and it’s not easy to scoop out the offending matter. I couldn’t afford to completely change out the entire box every day and if you need to do that it sort of cancels out any eco-friendliness of the product. I think I’ll check out the swheat scoop – thanks.
