Acid Reflux - Apple Cider Vinegar

8 July 2008 2 Comments

You know how the old saying goes…..”An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” That holds true for keeping something else away….sort of. Gerd, indigestion, acid reflux….We all get it from time to time, and it can be one of the most unbearable feelings known to humans! But….just how do you deal with such a thing in a way that doesn’t involve shoving various pills and other forms of medication down your throat? Apples of course!! Well, Apple Cider Vinegar to be exact!

Lets start at the beginning then, shall we:

What Is Acid Reflux?

Acid Reflux is a condition that is very common. It is usually noticed through a burning sensation in the throat and further down the esophogas. Heartburn is another term that people use to describe this condition. It is one of the main indications of Acid Reflux. The clinical name for this disease is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease or GERD.

Symptoms of Acid Reflux

Usually, the first symptoms include a burning sensation beginning in the stomach, which gradually moves up into the chest area as well as the throat. The most common reports indicate that most people experience the symptoms during the night.

The Cure For Acid Reflux

Vinegar has been used for thousands of years in the treatment of many ailments. Hippocrates, an ancient physician from Greece is said to have recommended vinegar for ailments ranging from ear infections to rashes, and other cultures used it to prevent viruses.

The best remedy that I’ve come across involves nothing more than honey, apple cider vinegar and water.

  • At least two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • A glass of water
  • Honey to taste

Yes, the concoction is a little on the strange side of things as far as flavour goes, but if your are looking for an extremely fast option in relieving acid reflux so you can get on with your day, or get back to sleep, give it a try!
