Rather than using a gas guzzling lawnmower, use a push mower
to cut the grass. Scientists and researchers say that a typical gas powered lawn mower produces the same amount of emissions as 43 cars. Thats HUGE! In north America, some 60 million lawn mowers run in succession every Saturday as homeowners tend to their lawns. Beyond that, EPA estimates that some 17 million gallons of gas end up seeping into the ground each year from spills resulting from filling lawn mower fuel tanks. It just so happens that that is more fuel than Exxon Valdez has spilled into the Gulf of Alaska. Aside from seeping into ground water supplies and streams, when the gas evaporates, it creates smog forming ozone in the atmosphere!
Try switching to one of these!

Fact: Gas Mowers represent 5% of U.S. Air Pollution
Climate Change Fact: one hour of mowing is the equivalent of driving 350 miles in terms of volatile organic compounds.
Climate Change Fact: One gas mower spews 87 lbs. of the greenhouse gas CO2, and 54 lbs. of other pollutants into the air every year.
Climate Change Fact: Over 17 million gallons of gas are spilled each year refueling lawn and garden equipment – more oil than was spilled by the Exxon Valdez.
Climate Change Fact: Americans burn 800 million gallons of gas each year trimming their grassy yards, according to the EPA
Climate Change Fact: One gas mower running for an hour emits the same amount of pollutants as eight new cars driving 55 mph for the same amount of time, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists

Some scary figures there! I can’t stand the noise of gas mowers, you know on those beautiful summer’s days, birds tweeting, children laughing and then brummmm as all the neighbours cut their grass! Push mowers rock

I know!!! I live on a residential street. The lawns here are about 30 feet by 30 feet, and I’m amazed by the number of people that use gas mowers to cut them! Half the time I can’t even sit in my backyard and listen to the radio because of all of the noise!
